Volunteer Coordinator supervises and leads the daily undertakings of a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers. Leads the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of volunteer workers. Being a Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for training and educating volunteers. Motivates and inspires volunteers to encourage teamwork. Additionally, Volunteer Coordinator evaluates and reviews volunteer schedules and makes adjustments as necessary. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the organization. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. The WAB Warming Center seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to work 25 hours a week.
Organization Description: The WAB Warming Center provides safety, warmth, and care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the winter months in Cache Valley area of Utah. Located at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Logan, the center is a seasonal emergency shelter that operates December through March, 7 nights per week. The center opens at 7:00 p.m. each evening and closes each morning at 8:00 a.m. The center relies on volunteers to operate the facility each night, with a volunteer coordinator arranging for people to provide services at the center.
This Volunteer Coordinator will be supervised by the new Executive Director to support the successful operation of the WAB Warming Center, both as a facility where unsheltered guests can stay warm and rest through winter nights, and as a mission-driven organization seeking to provide the broader array of services that guests need and deserve.
