The WAB Warming Center seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to work 25 hours a week.

Organization Description: The WAB Warming Center provides safety, warmth, and care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the winter months in Cache Valley area of Utah. Located at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Logan, the center is a seasonal emergency shelter that operates December through March, 7 nights per week. The center opens at 7:00 p.m. each evening and closes each morning at 8:00 a.m. The center relies on volunteers to operate the facility each night, with a volunteer coordinator arranging for people to provide services at the center.

This Volunteer Coordinator will be supervised by the new Executive Director to support the successful operation of the WAB Warming Center, both as a facility where unsheltered guests can stay warm and rest through winter nights, and as a mission-driven organization seeking to provide the broader array of services that guests need and deserve.

Position Responsibilities: The Volunteer Coordinator responsibilities will include:

• Attract and vett prospective volunteers
• Develop, schedule and hold in-person volunteer orientations throughout the year.
• Develop and track on-line volunteer training throughout the year.
• Develop descriptions of volunteer opportunities and post in the volunteer management system.
• Schedule and coordinate both on-site and off-site volunteers through the volunteer management system.
• Model on-site and off-site volunteer tasks.
• On-site support to volunteers during shifts.
• Monitor volunteer conduct and address behavioral issues.
• Monitor volunteer performance and offer timely feedback.
• Develop, implement and modify as needed a volunteer recognition program.
• Attend training as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older
• Comfortable working with vulnerable individuals and families experiencing crisis situations like homelessness
• Leadership skills
• Proficiency in oral and written communications
• Proficiency in the use of Google Workspace (particularly Gmail, Docs, Sites, Sheets, and Drive)
• Aptitude for independent learning of new software
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
• Willingness and ability to respond to changing circumstances

Preferred Qualifications:

• Past experience with volunteer coordination
• Past experience as a volunteer
• Experience with community outreach
• Familiarity with QuickBooks is preferred
• Experience remotely providing very basic technical support
