    Use those skills to review, analyze, critique and approve plans for the Department of Planning and Permitting, Planning Division, Development Plans & Zone Changes Branch. You must be knowledgeable about the principles, practices, purposes, and scope of techniques of the various phases of city planning. You will independently perform the full range of professional planning work in the development, analysis, and completion of planning projects and be responsible for planning activities at the community level in support of the General Plan and Development Plan.

    If you qualify for the position, your name will be placed on an eligible list for further consideration. This list may be used to fill current and future vacancies in this department.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
    Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with major work in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.

    Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.


    Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit.     Four years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research, including or supplemented by two years of professional work experience in city planning or related planning activities.

    Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

    Substitution:
    1) A Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience.

    2) A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from an accredited university may be substituted for two years of architecture, engineering, or socio-economic research experience and one year of city planning experience.
