Being a UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator, Sr. contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.   • Overview   The Sr. Systems Admin is a knowledgeable member of a team responsible for all aspects of the configuration and maintenance of servers and software solutions that meet or exceed business performance expectations. The position is responsible for installing, implementing, and maintaining a wide variety of software solutions as well as creating the necessary documentation for the installed software. The Sr. Systems Admin is responsible for software configurations, installations, maintenance, life-cycle, and monitoring. The member of this team will work closely with other team members to design and implement new software designs to fulfill customer requirements. Responsibilities   Work with Jr. System Admins and Network Engineer team to evaluate and implement new system solutions in support of customer goals Ability to interpret requirements and translate those requirements into a functioning and manageable system solutions Mentor, coach and develop Jr. System Admins. Develop knowledge of various vendor capabilities and limitations Develop documentation and training material on new and current system designs Assist network engineers with questions related to ongoing support and change requests of system designs Continuing education to maintain system admin expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies Establish standards and procedures for best practices involving system and system admin related issues Qualifications   Proven experience as a System Admin. Background with a wide breath of knowledge in available protocols and services Strong knowledge of linux. CentOS, RHEL, Oracle Strong knowledge of Virtualization technologies. KVM/Ovirt preferred Strong knowledge of monitoring technologies. Cacti, Nagios, Icinga, Zabbix Strong knowledge of ELK stack. Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana Strong knowledge of backup technologies Experience with Ansible, Saltstack, or other configuration management systems Experience with data center operations of racking, cabling hardware devices Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Scripting/programming experience desired. Perl, Bash, and PHP preferred Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently Proven ability to present complex networking ideas in a understandable and relate-able fashion Keen attention to detail. Proficient analytical and problem solving skills Proven ability to translate the business and application needs into solution architecture requirements and design Strong knowledge of risk management, change management, and configuration management Ability to integrate various technologies into complete solutions Minimum 10 years of experience managing and configuring linux systems Base range for this role is $80,000 - $100,-000. Pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.
