UNIX Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating systems and all related systems or software. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems. Being an UNIX Systems Administrator detects, diagnoses, and reports UNIX related problems on both UNIX server and UNIX desktop systems. Responsible for backup or recovery procedures. Additionally, UNIX Systems Administrator typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The UNIX Systems Administrator works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Description: Due to continued growth we are currently seeking to add a Systems Administrator to the team! System Administrators at Charles IT primarily serve as field and escalations support to our clients while performing the job functions below.
Day-to-day responsibilities:- Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues for end users
- Support of Microsoft-related technologies: Windows Server, Office 365/Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc
- Support of virtual environments including VMware, and Hyper-V
- Support backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Configure, install, and support various network devices and services, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, & security
- Effectively communicate with customers on ticket progress, impending changes, or agreed outages, etc.
- Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
- Maintain daily documentation by entering time, expenses, and all work as service tickets in ConnectWise
- 5 or more years of experience is preferred
- MCSA, VCP, CCNA certifications are a plus
- Experience with ConnectWise, Cisco, Meraki, Datto, VMware, and Office 365 platforms a plus.
- Superior communication skills required
- Ability to multi-task and function collaboratively as a member of a fast-paced, client-orientated team
- Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of a growing company and client base
- Self-starter with the ability to perform independently with little or no supervision
- High level of organization; strong attention to detail
