Responsibilities
Installation, configuration and management of the following in support of a 50 person development team that builds tools used by airmen for flight planning activities which includes using WebSphere 8.5.5 and later - iplanet web and proxy server- Linux OS (Red Hat Linux, CentOS) virtual machines- Solaris 10/11 physical machines
Support the deployment and management of java based web applications to non-production environments including physical and virtual servers on VMWare for the development team
Support the installation and configuration of application clusters, connection pooling and proxy users in Websphere
Provide images and packages for setup of non production instances of database servers on both Oracle and Postgres
Review configuration settings across the tech stack to optimize system performance
Ensure high availability of non-production systems by closely monitoring system, process and application logs
Setup monitoring tools and scripts to ensure any issues can be identified quickly before system availability is impacted
Script routine maintenance, installation and configuration activities via Python in Ansible
Identify, assess and perform proof of concept exercises for new tools and mechanisms to help with optimizing/ improving overall system operations
Provide knowledge transfer and training to Tier 2 support by providing detailed documentation
Document detailed instructions for system installation and configuration changes
Must be onsite for minimum 2 days weekly, ready to go on priority basis. (This may change based on workload)
