At Catholic Financial Life, we are looking for that important piece to join our team as an Underwriter! Could you be our missing piece of the puzzle?WHAT YOU’LL DOAs an Underwriter, you will:
- Evaluate and underwrite life insurance applications and make determinations of the terms, coverage, and rating classification within the designated approval limit
- Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazard, and financial background
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to gather information necessary for decision making and properly assesses risk class
- Communicate medical and financial information in a clear and concise manner to ensure that the customer understands the information
- Acquire knowledge on the fundamentals of life insurance principles including anti-selection, over-insurance, products, legal fundamentals, and state and federal regulations pertinent to underwriting
- Complete regulatory and job training requirements
QUALIFICATIONS- Post-Secondary degree and/or 2 years of Life Insurance Industry experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with high level of professionalism
- Excellent decision-making skills with an eye towards finding “win-win” solutions
- Self-Starter with excellent teamwork skills and innate sense of urgency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn proprietary software
- Bilingual/Spanish communication a plus
