Tumor Registrar identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients using tumor registry systems and software. Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Purpose of Position

    The purpose of this position is to provide a complete and accurate undergraduate electronic degree audit for UND and to complete review of all student athlete records to insure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, support the Athletic department student record needs. The position supervises course, classroom, and final exam scheduling as well as collaborative student registration, drop/add, and withdrawal along with undergraduate major/minor/advisor changes.

    This position is responsible for these distinct areas within the office. The position is responsible for all questions and issues in the area of degree audit, student athlete academic eligibility, and the outward flow of that data to other systems. Additionally, the position is responsible for the work and supervision of two staff members.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Build, maintain and expand the Electronic Degree Audit System in the student information system.
      • Analyze degree requirements.
      • Code degree requirements using Electronic Degree Audit in Campus Connection.
      • Track degree requirements for advising purposed using Electronic Degree Audit in Campus Connection.
      • Work with colleges and departments to insure accurate reflection of degree programs.
      • Annually update all University and departmental degree requirements according to the new curriculum and policy decisions.
      • Meet with students, faculty and departments regarding questions or issues with the degree audit.
      • Review and process approved waivers, substitutions for individual student audits and properly record to the student’s record.
      • Process the Essential Studies petitions for individual student audits and properly record to the student’s record.
    • Monitor and Certify Student Athletic Eligibility
      • Review Student Athlete records to insure compliance with the NCAA rules and regulations each fall, spring and summer.
      • Certify student athlete academic eligibility requirements for fall and spring certification in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
      • Enter and maintain Athletic coding in the electronic student information system.
      • Works with athletic department to ensure academic eligibility requirements are met.
      • Run reports and proved data and advise to the Sr. Associate AD-Internal Ops/SWA, Assistant AD/SA Support Services.
      • Stay current with NCAA rules through training opportunities and NCAA website.
      • Serve on Athletic Compliance and other committees.
      • Update NCAA Compliance Assistant each term with progress toward degree data and post earned degrees.
      • Evaluate prospective transfer student athletes for eligibility status as needed.
      • Complete the NCAA Graduation Rates reports annually. 
    • Lead, train, and coach direct reports.
      • Direct the work of direct reports which include course, classroom, and final exam scheduling along with collaborative registration, drop/add, and withdrawal along with major/minor/advisor changes.
      • Direct any other work assigned to direct reports.
      • Hire, train, lead, coach, and evaluate two or more direct reports.
      • Keep current on software to aid with the work of direct reports.
      • When necessary, provide progressive discipline to direct reports failing to achieve meet expectations results. 
    • The position is a member of the University Registrar’s leadership team and is an integral part of a positive, efficient, and productive work environment.
      • Provide support to the University Registrar including planning, developing, and executing institutional and state projects.
      • Support all levels of University administration as requested.
      • Serve on a variety of University ad hoc committees.
      • Model professional behavior and communication at all times.
      • Complete other duties as assigned by University Registrar.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Three years experience with student record activities or work in a Registrar’s office
    • Three years experience with an electronic student information system
    • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
