The Town of Plainfield is a small muncipality (approximately 1,100 registered voters) located, by car, less than 20 minutes east of Montpelier. The Muncipal Office presentaly employees three staff members: a full time Town Clerk/Treasurer, an Assistant Town Clerk (who manages Water/Wastewater Depts) and a part time support staff member. We are in the process of reorganizing local government and are transitioning from Elected to appointed Town Treasurer. This job will be distinct from Town Clerk (presently they are one position) In addition we are revamping our financial systems to become more transparent and accountable. The Assistant Treasurer Position will be vital in aiding our procedural upgrades in accounting. It might also be a gateway to the full time position as Treasurer.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an Assistant Treasurer to join our Town Office. The ideal candidate will assist in managing the organization's finances, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in cash management activities and monitor daily cash balances
- Conduct financial analysis and prepare reports for senior management
- Assist in forecasting cash flow positions and related borrowing needs
- Perform general ledger reconciliation and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Support financial audits and compliance Vermont Muncipal Standards
- Collaborate with the Treasurer on various financial projects
- Utilize NEMRC maintain financial records accurately
- Provide support in financial software implementation and upgrades
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in financial management and treasury operations

- Knowledge of Fund Accounting
- Experience in cash management, financial analysis, and forecasting
- Ability to perform general ledger reconciliation with attention to detail
