Treasurer guides the overall direction, coordination, and operation of the organization's treasury department. Develops the strategic vision and direction for the treasury function. Being a Treasurer directs and manages treasury activities of an organization including financial forecasting and mitigating risk. Ensures financial transactions, policies, and procedures fulfill the organization's objectives, needs, and regulatory body requirements. Additionally, Treasurer is responsible for the corporate banking, credit, and investment functions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Treasurer manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Treasurer typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     NATURE OF WORK

    An employee in this class performs a variety of complex bookkeeping, administrative, and clerical duties involving interaction with other employees and departments. Work involves independently preparing routine correspondence, compiling information for reports, maintaining complex computer-based accounting systems, and performing technical accounts payable functions. Employee is also responsible for maintaining school-related files of a variety of records, reports, documents, and correspondence using a variety of computer driven word processing, spread sheet and file maintenance programs and assimilating information from a variety of sources to compose letters, generate reports and provide informational data. Work is directed by precedents or board policy. The employee may develop procedures for non-technical and non-complex problems and is expected to resolve problems independently.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains a multi-fund bookkeeping system using a computerized accounting program; verifies and receipts collections from teachers and other school personnel; creates deposits daily; issues local requisitions for school funds; verifies invoices for payment, enters accounting transactions into the system; generates monthly reports including cash/flow statements, balance statements, and income/expenditure statements for each fund; maintains accounts payable files for verification of receipt of items.
    • Reconciliation of the school funds bank account.
    • Administers the purchasing card system.
    • Maintains an accurate record of absences and time-entries for school-based employees in a computerized system; maintains absence request forms for all employees
    • Responsible for gate boxes for all athletic and non-athletic events.
    • Maintains records for athletic events, including log of tickets sold and files of personal information for event officials.
    • Monitors fund raising activities for the school.
    • Operates a large variety of standard office equipment.


    MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of 48 semester hours of college coursework with 3-5 years of clerical or office support experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience in accounting is preferred.

    • Must be able to use a variety of automated office equipment such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, etc.
    • Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Requires ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information.
    • Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc.
    • Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.

    • Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; and to utilize decimals and percentages.

    • Thorough knowledge of and ability to use grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation.
    • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.
    • Considerable knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.
    • Considerable knowledge of the principles of organization and administration.
    • Ability to work independently with little guidance.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information.
    • Ability to interact and deal with the public in a professional manner.
    • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop standard reports from those records.
    • Ability to type accurately at a moderate rate of speed.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
