Traffic Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Requirements:
Responsibilities:
- Direct traffic at construction sites or other locations as assigned
- Set up traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signs to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely
- Communicate with drivers and pedestrians to ensure a smooth flow of traffic
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust traffic control measures as necessary
- Report any incidents or hazards to supervisors or appropriate authorities
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols while on the job
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
-General road safety knowledge
-1-5 years flagging experience
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with drivers and pedestrians
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Note: While not all skills may be required for every Traffic Controller position, having experience or knowledge in these areas would be beneficial.
