Toxicologist develops and coordinates regulatory programs for consumer products. Conducts research on toxic effects of consumer products and ingredients on laboratory animals for manufacturers of consumer products. Being a Toxicologist may require a Ph. D in toxicology or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Toxicologist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.   • To support ICF’s dynamic growth and expanding client base, we are seeking a Toxicologist to work in our Health Science Portfolio. This group of 130 science professionals provide toxicology, hazard assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support that addresses the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals and microbes. We specialize in identifying and quantifying the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment.

    The Toxicologist’s project work would support federal agencies (such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS) in conducting and reporting the results of hazard studies and supporting risk assessments of environmental pollutants and microbes.

    The position can be located remotely, although preference is for a candidate to be located in either Reston, VA, or Durham, NC.

    What You’ll Do

    • Project and technical support of activities on multiple projects concurrently involving toxicology data, systematic literature reviews, and risk assessment. Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients and the internal project team.
    • Toxicological report development, including writing methods, results, and discussion sections, reviewing toxicological conclusions based on the test results, and synthesizing findings into a weight of evidence analysis.
    • Toxicology domain tasks including publications and guidance, presentations at conferences, and proposal sections.
    • Toxicology systematic review tasks including literature screening, study quality evaluation, study data extraction, dose-response analysis, incorporation of NAMs and mechanistic data, and data synthesis.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior- to mid-level staff.

    What You’ll Need

    • Graduate degree or equivalent in toxicology, pharmacology, environmental science, or related subject.

    What We’d Love

    • At least one year of experience.
    • Experience with government programs (preferably U.S. EPA or NIEHS)
    • Experience with systematic literature review
    • Proactive and problem-solving approach to challenges
    • Strong quantitative skills and experience with dose-response analysis
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience with project management and staff leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute technical approaches to solving scientific questions

    Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

    $51,333.00 - $87,267.00
