    Reporting to the Director of Global Sustainability Services, the Sustainability Services Specialist will support Sonoco’s Sustainability Services activities across the globe. Key tasks include assisting the development of internal and external communication supporting Sonoco’s sustainability efforts, assisting with the growing voluntary and mandatory ESG reporting requirements and engaging with external stakeholders in further Sonoco’s evolving sustainable packaging policy and compliance needs.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Support the execution of Sonoco’s global sustainable packaging strategy.
    • Assist in the development of internal educational activities (In the Loop, Quarterly Global Policy Updates etc.) and support the presentation of the finished products.
    • Implement Sonoco’s internal sustainability communications and marketing strategy.
    • Respond to customer surveys and align with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and maintain customer survey database.
    • Align with Operational Sustainability and Supply Management organization on consumer facing initiatives involving carbon tracking or reduction activities.
    • Aid the Reporting Manager with key voluntary (EcoVadis, DJSI, CDP, UNGC, GRI) and upcoming mandatory reporting platforms (CSRD, SEC, California).
    • Research and collect data to support annual corporate sustainability report and other external reporting needs.
    • Participate in conferences, external engagements and compliance activities with pre-competitive collaborations, policy makers and producer responsibility organizations (PROs).
    • Provide support tracking global policy development and industry positions and actions.

    This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in beautiful Hartsville, SC and close to exciting destinations (Myrtle Beach, SC, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC)

    We’d love to hear from you if you have:

    • Ability to effectively communicate strategy and key issues both internally and externally
    • Desire to work with pre-competitive industry collaborations and policy makers to tackle packaging sustainability challenges
    • Understanding of voluntary and mandatory sustainability reporting frameworks such as CSRD, EcoVadis, CDP and GRI
    • Ability to build collaborative relationships to thrive in a matrix organization
    • Strong communication and verbal presentation skills
    • Ability to effectively network internally to gain support in achieving objectives
    • Ability to sell new ideas and effectively challenge the status quo
    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis and reporting to support development of ESG databases to be used in sustainability compliance and reporting initiatives
    • BS or BA in a technical or other relevant field
    • 2-4 years’ experience in role with relevant sustainability or packaging experience

    Compensation:

    The annual base salary range for this role is from $58,650 to $70,380.

    This is a progression position and level will be based on candidate experience and business needs.
