The focus of this position is on the role that Information Technology plays within our campus setting of local and distance students and includes: maintaining, updating, and strategizing the campus’ 3-to-5-year technology plan; basic A/V troubleshooting; managing Apple and Windows machines and related peripherals in an enterprise-style environment; user account troubleshooting; technology support for faculty and staff; accurate documentation of strategies and solutions; a broad range of technology-oriented challenges. This position works closely with off-campus IT teams across the UA system as needed.
To thrive in this position, the applicant must have a positive attitude, patience, strong customer service skills, and a desire to learn are necessary in order to maintain the wide range of technologies supported by PWSC, from a USB document camera to a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab. Candidates should be creative with how they approach problems in order to address challenges that may not have immediate solutions. Candidates should be familiar with working with others in person and via distance in order to solve on-campus and off-campus technology issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years relevant experience (including consultative
experience), or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Thorough knowledge of Intel hardware and peripheral equipment.
Working knowledge of Apple hardware and peripheral equipment.
Demonstrated experience with Windows OS, Apple OS, iPhones, iPads, and Microsoft Office Applications.
Ability to provide desktop computer support in a professional environment.
Experience with responding to software questions or issues
Position Details:
This position is located on the Prince William Sound campus in Valdez, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
