Develops quality, performance, and safety standards and processes for construction projects and operations. Being a Top Construction Executive manages financial processes like forecasting, estimating, budgeting, and cost control to ensure profitability. Builds effective teams and the capacity to estimate, scope, design, plan, organize and implement construction projects. Additionally, Top Construction Executive represents the organization in discussions and negotiations with clients, contractors, governmental or regulatory officials, and other stakeholders. Identifies risk and implements insurance and risk control strategies. Monitors costs and timelines to deliver projects on time and within budget. Evaluates and implements new or innovative construction methods and systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and project outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. Typically reports to top management. Construction Project Manager

  • Summary Statement

    The incumbent will schedule, coordinate, monitor, evaluate and report on all assigned public works projects. Selected individual oversees and coordinates public works projects to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, department and division policies and procedures, and state procurement laws. This position is responsible for data collection, analytics, document review. Selected individual will utilize written and verbal communication skills while prioritizing task appropriately. They are also responsible for providing technical assistance in defining and determining the feasibility of construction and renovation projects as well as developing and monitoring project budgets and approving expenditures.

    Selective Requirement

    Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements.� Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified. One year of experience in commercial construction project management overseeing projects such as HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical work.

    Preferred Qualification

    Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met. Six months experience in budget management and control which includes managing a budget for the purpose of keeping expenditures within the limitations of available appropriations and available revenue and maintaining, monitoring, projecting, and controlling a budget within set policies and procedures.

    Essential Functions

Coordinates and oversees construction projects to ensure compliance with state laws, department and division policies and procedures.� �� Provides technical assistance in defining and determining the feasibility of construction and renovation projects.� � � Develops construction project budgets and approves expenditures.� � � � Provides technical input into the development of project specifications and drawings.�� � � � Oversees contract bidding to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and state bidding laws.� � Selects and recommends approval of professional services.� � Reviews, approves and coordinates payment of services and change orders.� � Conducts site inspections to determine contractual compliance and to ensure safety and conformance to project plans.

    Job Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for Construction Project Manager Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Three years experience in construction project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of construction projects. Three years experience in interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings. Six months experience in interpreting national and local building and fire codes. Six months experience in contract administration which includes overseeing the development and negotiation of contracts and bid specifications; managing bid openings; awarding and executing contracts.

    Additional Posting Information

    Additional Shift Information: Nights, Weekends and Holidays are not required on a regular basis. In the circumstance of which it is needed, reporting to the necessary location is required.
