Intensive Education Academy Inc. is actively seeking a Transition Teacher to join our dedicated team. This teacher will support the educational, social, and psychological development of students in our 18-21 "Transition Education Academy" by coordinating and providing transition services. Responsibilities include creating and implementing transition plans, maintaining off-site job opportunities, supervising students, and fostering relationships with community agencies. This full-time position aligns with the academic year, with potential summer opportunities, and reports to the Director of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIREMENTS

• Develops and implements transition plans and goals.
• Maintains and expands off-site job opportunities.
• Supervises students at off-site locations.
• Collaborates with community agencies and businesses.
• Communicates learning expectations to students and families.
• Conducts transition surveys and assessments.
• Documents student performance through data collection.
• Attends P.P.T. meetings, I.E.P. reviews, and parent/teacher conferences.
• Promotes student engagement, independence, and positive behavior.
• Engages in professional development.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• CT State Teacher Certification in Special Education (165) preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility, patience, and strong organizational skills.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years of experience with transition programming preferred.

Salary

$52,000 - $84,000 per 10-month school year
