Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a long term substitute Kindergarten Teacher for Gales Ferry School. This position is expected to begin at the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

The long term substitute will perform all of the responsibilities of a Kindergarten Teacher. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications :

• Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals
• Ability to promote positive self-concept in each student; provide encouragement to each student to develop his or her full potential
• Successful elementary teaching experience preferred
• Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
• Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
• Understands social and emotional needs of students
• Ability to work with a diverse student population

Responsibilities :

• Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset
• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
• Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
• Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents and staff
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research

Additional Duties :

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Required :

• Bachelors degree
• Applicable CT teaching certification

Pay :

The daily rate for substitute teachers is $100. Please note for long term substitute positions (40 days) : The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $269.

78 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.
