    Job Overview:

    Tactacam is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the effort of setting up and creating an engineering team and facility in Billings, MT. This individual will be responsible for the mechanical, electrical, and test engineering teams. This position will require someone that has extensive experience in managing electromechanical project teams through a complete development process from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have experience in consumer electronics, specifically experience with camera development. The positions will manage both the engineering development process of new products as well as the sustaining engineering of legacy products.


    The individual will also be responsible for creating new engineering processes through integration of new software as well as maintaining and refining current SOP’s. As the design engineering team is still new to Tactacam this candidate needs to have a strong background in setting up as well as maintaining engineering teams that consist of mechanical and electrical engineers. Tactacam’s ideal candidate will have experience managing a staff of 10 engineers as well as experience creating and building teams.

    Responsibilities:

    Manage mechanical, electrical, firmware and testing engineering staff.
    Build-out engineering and QC Facility.
    Build out Engineering process with help of Testing, Firmware and Hardware Managers
    Continue building an effective hardware engineering team.
    Manage department budgets.
    Manage new product development process, driving timelines, cost goals, and quality standards.
    Work closely with any CM’s to produce new products, resolve production issues, and resolve any product quality issues.
    Manage the sustaining engineering process, trouble shooting issues, proposing design solutions, implementing said solutions with CM’s.
    Report out project status to executive management team.
    Develop all new products from concept through production using Reveal Platform.
    Managing and maintain the compliance certification process for all products in current offering as well as products being developed.
    Own progress and timelines of projects.

    Requirements:

    • 10 years’ experience managing a team of 10 engineers.

    • 10 years’ direct experience designing electronic consumer products.

    • 5 years’ experience managing capex budgets.

    • 5 years’ experience in Director level role.

    Desired Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Extensive skills in electro-mechanical product design, FEA, and DFM.

    • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required; Master degree in Engineering
      preferred.
