  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a System Administrator or other similar position with responsibilities for IT service and infrastructure management including Microsoft Windows management, endpoint management, Active Directory and EntraID management.
    • Relevant experience managing all elements of a Windows data center environment including compute, backup, and storage.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
    • In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking protocols for Windows environments.
    • CompTIA Network Infrastructure Professional and Microsoft Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure certification required. Applicants without the required certification must obtain certification within one year of hire.
    • Experience working in a virtualized environment such as VMWare, HyperV, or Acropolis a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • In-depth understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement security measures to protect data and systems.
    • Demonstrated Powershell experience a plus.

    Job Goal

    Supports the district by proactively managing and maintaining all IT systems and hardware within the Datacenter as well as all cloud-based IT tenants.

    Essential Functions

    • Perform server and system patch management to ensure all systems are protected.
    • Securely implement, manage, and maintain Windows servers in accordance with established best practices and security guidelines.
    • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities as identified or noticed by providers.
    • Administer domain services including but not limited to Active Directory, Group Policy, Domain Name System (DNS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP.
    • Configure, manage, and maintain antivirus and endpoint protection solutions, including monitoring virus definition updates, responding to alerts, and addressing malware or virus-related security events.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated help desk incidents. Administer and support storage arrays and server backup systems. Develop and maintain written procedures.
    • Lead member of the District’s Cybersecurity team.
    • Automate processes and monitor system performance through scripting and/or commonly used programming languages.
    • Perform and monitor backups of on-premise and cloud-based systems to ensure the protection of data, and restore any necessary backups as needed
    • Perform regular testing of backup and restore processes to ensure they are working effectively
    • Manage user accounts, including deleting accounts, assigning permissions, and ensuring appropriate access controls are in place for all user accounts both on and off premise.
    • Manage server and web-related certificates and licenses, ensuring that all systems are properly licensed and certificates are up-to-date
    • Coordinate with vendors and external stakeholders as necessary to implement and maintain system-related projects and services.
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including changelogs, standard operating procedures, and written procedures related to system processes, policies and procedures
    • Stay current with industry best practices and standards, and continue to develop technical skills related to system administration.
    • Improves technical skills by researching manuals and reading related technical publications.
    • Performs other duties as requested or assigned
