    Summary:

    Answers incoming calls and assistance and general administrative duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department. Takes and delivers messages or transfers call to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
    • Answers questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information as required.
    • Relieves Corporate Receptionist as necessary:
      • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
      • Escorts visitors to the staterooms, chapel area, or other areas of the facility as needed.
      • Maintains an awareness of the whereabouts of visitors.
      • Facilitates effective coordination of the arrangement offices.
    • Communicates the requests of visitors to funeral directors, sales staff, or other appropriate staff members.
    • Assembles at-need folders, Batesville Tree form orders, accounting coupon books, various filing tasks and other tasks as necessary.

    Education/Experience

    Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Ability

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Math Ability

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills

    Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required. Proficiency with email required. Experience with accounting software desired.

    • Paid Sick and Safe Leave Policy: Full-Time Employees working a minimum of 30 hours are eligible for 80 hours of PSSL per year, which accrues at a rate of 3.077 hours each pay period.
    • Holidays: 8 paid days, but open during certain holidays as stated below:
      • Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary: Open on all holidays except New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
      • Satellite Locations: Closed on all holidays except President’s Day and Veteran’s Day when they will maintain regularly scheduled business hours.
      • Employees who work holidays may take another day off with prior approval.
    Other compensation: Employees have the opportunity to earn:

    • Monthly bonus under the Company’s Quarterly Incentive Plan, subject to Plan eligibility requirements.
