Job Description

Corp Manager - Sustainability develops and executes Sustainability initiatives and projects for Coca-Cola Bottling Company, UNITED, Inc., supporting the Corporate Director - Sustainability and working independently to address systemic sustainability challenges focusing on recovery of packaging through closed loop recycling initiatives and water replenishment with our facilities, customer teams, customers and in our communities for all products we produce and sell.  

What your day will look like:

• Collaborates with other functional areas and senior leaders including sales and marketing, procurement, supply chain, operations, engineering, PAC, risk, legal, EHS, and innovation
• Responsible for gathering and analyzing recycling, recovery, energy, water and other sustainability data, development of performance dashboards and reports, and the reporting of data and findings to various stakeholders and aligning metrics to UNITED business and sustainability strategy and objectives
• Identify project opportunities with our sales and marketing teams at company faciities and implement best practices across the Company
• Track reports and industry data, prepare presentations, represent the Company at conferences and action teams
• Work with industry partners, associations and consultants to understand challenges and opportunities across the sustainability landscape along with piloting and scaling solutions to achieve our goals
• Identify opportunities and implement closed loop recycling programs, craft new sustainability initiatives, and provide sustainability training and education to associates within our company, our customers and with our communities
• Collaborate with TCCC and NAOU and other outside interests on sustainability initiatives and goals to drive compliance and commitment within UNITED, to be a leader in our facilities and communities
• Develop programs and projects in partnership with the sales and marketing teams to support our business interests and meet our sustainability objectives focusing on our customers and communities
• Develop and maintain partnerships with our sales and marketing teams in order to influence business decision making
• Solicit customers to engage in recycling or other sustainability programs
• Develop tools, resources, and programs for our sales and marketing associates in support of our customer needs and requests
• Analyze complex business and regulatory issues, manage divergent stakeholders and bring together multiple concepts across functions to define the long-term public affairs, government relations, communications and sustainability strategy for the business
• Understand and communicate sustainability project results to relevant stakeholders within Coke UNITED and other outside interested parties to ensure sustainability efforts are progressing our goals
• Develop internal and external communications of UNITED’s sustainability activities and results
• Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with other organizations, especially in the package recovery and recycling space, Bottler and Company representatives, and Sustainability experts
• Travel to local recycling facilities, company facilities, customer meetings, and community engagement events to activate new programs and solve problems
• Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management

What you need to succeed:

• Minimum age 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
• Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
• Ability to read, write and speak English 
• Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
• Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
• Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
• Strong leadership and organizational skills 
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or 5 to 6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven ability to coach and manage needs and concerns of multiple associates required
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented
• Must demonstrate quick learning ability of software systems and applications.
• Must be able to work in high stress environments and be able to multitask effectively

• Frequent walking, sitting, standing, typing, lifting up to 50 pounds
• Ability to travel up to 50%
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Customer facing experience is preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required
• Ability to assess current state and develop innovative strategies to achieve company and industry goals
• Demonstrated experience creating Sustainability solutions, especially related package collection and recycling required
