Surgical Neurophysiologist performs testing and monitoring of the nervous system during surgery to assist the surgeons in avoiding or reducing complications such as paralysis, hearing loss, or stroke. Conducts Electroencephalograms, Electromyographies, Somatosensory Evoked Potentials, Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials, direct nerve testing, and other modalities intraoperatively, and communicates findings to the operating room team. Being a Surgical Neurophysiologist typically requires a bachelor's degree in related area. Requires Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) from the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists. Wyoming Surgical Center has a vacancy for an RN within a busy orthopedic surgical center.
The key functions include working with multiple Orthopedic Surgeons, Anesthesia providers, and Mid-Level providers within an ambulatory surgical center setting. Nurses rotate between peri-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care and are required to learn all aspects of each department. Hours of operation vary, dependent upon the operating room schedules. No holidays, limited over night stays, and weekends!
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree)
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Wyoming. BLS Certification.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in orthopedics preferred, but not required
Acute care experience preferred
OTHER SKILLS
Demonstrates clinical competencies in providing direct patient care and patient and family education as well as assisting surgeons and mid-level providers in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with others.
