Lakota Tech High School Activities Director
Primary Function
Provide leadership, collaboration, and coordination for activities programming at the high school.
Supervisor
Reports directly to the building principal.
Qualifications- Masters Degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of five years of teaching/activities coaching experience. Administrative experience preferred.
- Ability to develop, organize and implement multiple school activities and programs.
- Knowledge of current national, regional, state, conference, and local rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets and data entry.
- Coordinates the 9-12 activities program in collaboration with principals and Athletic Director to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each season to ensure consistency of program.
- Initiates the recruitment and selection of club advisors for LTHS activities and after-school clubs. Makes employment recommendations with the building principal.
- Supervises, manages and evaluates all activities and fine arts club advisors at the high school level.
- Schedules all high school activities, events, issues contracts for them, and maintains the proper and necessary records for the activities and events.
- Responsible for positive communication about the instructional, cultural, and athletic programs, and activities, at LTHS. Weekly communication to include but not limited to:
- Information to families via school website, school calendar on website, Facebook, Sunday district-wide calls, KILI broadcasts, and official district newspaper.
- Marque sign at the road
- Postings around the school campus
- Creation of promotional materials and pamphlets
- Ensures activities, clubs, and events are scheduled in advance and communicated to families and the community, promoted via facebook, school website, official newspaper, and KILI radio.
- Arranges transportation for all after school activities and events.
- Supervises the preparation and verifies all eligibility lists.
- Supervises high school activities, school clubs, and fine arts events and competitions. Serves as the host to participants and visiting schools. Oversees the supervision of advisors, participants, activity/event workers, and volunteers. Arranges for additional personnel to supervise activities, clubs, events and competitions as needed.
- Creates job descriptions, interview processes for hiring of club and activity advisors.
- Evaluation of activity and club advisors and programming.
- Supervises activities funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the activities program and submits it to the building principal. Oversees fundraising efforts. Keeps accurate records of participant numbers for events. Maintains accurate accounting of all funds received through fundraising, events, and activities. Maintains an accurate account per activity/event of money from activities and events. Performs weekly deposits to the business office.
- Oversees the gate admission, concession scheduling, and fan gear. Orders all equipment, food/drink items, fan gear, and maintains a current inventory of all fan gear and concessions supplies.
- Meets and communicates regularly with club advisors, athletic coach, organizations, and administration regarding events (ie Teca Wacipi Okolakiciye, Lakota Nation Invitational).
- Assists the principal and student success team in planning and conducting staff meetings, departmental meetings, advisor meetings, and plans and implements staff development activities.
- Ensures that all safety rules and regulations are distributed, discussed, and reinforced.
- Supervises and is responsible for preparation for home activities, fine arts, family engagement nights, other school related activities, events, and competitions.
- Assists with student activity violations which may include contacts with parents, coaches, activity leaders, and outside agencies.
- Facilitates the ordering of student activities and fine arts awards and oversees the organization and operation of award programs.
- Assumes responsibility for representation at conference, district and regional activities and fine arts meetings.
- Participates in community and District activities as a representative of the Lakota Tech High School and Oglala Lakota County School District.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, High School Principal and or his/her designees.
