Structural Engineer designs load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, or roadways. Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction. Being a Structural Engineer develops blueprints or specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations. Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations. Additionally, Structural Engineer provides reports detailing investigations and assessment of damages to the structure. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Structural Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.     System One is currently seeking a  Structural Engineer on a 3 year contract position located in Birmingham, AL. 

    Structural Engineer Requirements: 
    • Minimum 5 years of design experience of industrial and/or commercial structural engineering.
    • Experience with analyzing steel connections.
    • Professional Engineering registration is a plus, but not required.
    • Proficient with MathCAD and STAAD Pro
    • Working knowledge with ANSYS
    • Working knowledge of AISC, ASCE, ACI codes 
    • Design experience in transmission structures is a plus, but not required.
    • Computer skills to be proficient with standard office software applications.
    • Interpersonal skills sufficient to build working relationships with peers, internal customers and the general public.
    • Time management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines.
    • Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to satisfactorily complete project documentation and to function effectively in a team environment.

    Duration: 3 years 
    Location: Birmingham, AL 

    This position is a hybrid work schedule. Office time is required at the beginning to work with team members to get up to speed on what we do. After that remote work is available.
