Strategic Sourcing Specialist (Contract Role)

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is the lead person for establishing and implementing the sourcing strategies that assure that the spend of electric vehicle chargers and other complex equipment related to the EV industry is allocated in the most cost effective way possible. The Specialist will partner closely with Technology and Engineering teams to develop the requirements for the sourcing of chargers, charger equipment, and contracted manufacturing services that reflect the Best Practices to significantly reduce the current costs and reduce supplier risk.

Strategic Sourcing Execution & Supplier On-boarding 40%

• Adhere to corporate guidelines, procedures and policies
• Execute 7-step sourcing process including spend analytics
• Assist in developing specifications, bid terms and contractual language for competitive bid processes according to the Electrify America purchasing standards
• Creates and implements supplier evaluation periodic review and maintenance of Standard Operating Supplier Procedures, Templates and Guidelines
• Independently evaluate bids and conduct bid analysis, negotiate terms & pricing, and present recommended supplier to business team.
• Developing & executing negotiations for high value contracts up to $50M
• Presenting Sourcing Strategy to Executive Leadership & securing buy in and sponsorship
• Implementation of new strategic purchasing and service contracts

Supplier Performance Monitoring & Contract Management Administration 30%

• Analyze supply base and competition with reference to price, capacity, and quality as well as monitor the integration of current and potential suppliers in order to establish a sound supplier base
• Performing supplier risk assessments
• Leading and managing monthly supplier performance
• Holding suppliers to contractual commitments
• Assuring performance commitments are made and penalties are assessed/collected when needed

Annual Strategic Sourcing Savings Strategies & Execution: 15%

• Identify and quantify opportunities to reduce costs of chargers and charging related equipment

Supplier Monthly & Quarterly Business Reviews: 5%

• Lead and direct monthly and quarterly business reviews with all strategic suppliers assuring contract conformance & compliance
• Developing and implementing Key Performance Indicators and reviewing those in monthly & quarterly meetings

Years Of Experience:

• 7 developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives to drive cost savings and higher supplier performance for complex electrical equipment or other complex equipment with high performance. Experience with contract manufacturing required. Experience with manufacturing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) highly desired.

Specialized Skills - Required

• Extensive experience in strategic sourcing as a strategic sourcing specialist or as a leader of a sourcing team
• Mastery of 5 or 7 Step Strategic Sourcing process. Demonstrated experience in each step of the process including Spend Analysis, Supply Base Assessment, Go To Market/Sourcing strategy (RFI, RFQ, RFP), Business Case formulation & presentation, Implementation, Supplier Performance Management
• Demonstrated experience is sourcing high tech equipment and/or electrical equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in tracking supplier performance against commercial terms & driving higher levels of supplier experience over time
• Expertise in identifying and implementing savings strategies that have delivered annual positive impacts of $1 million or more of savings (individual sourcing initiatives contributing $1M in savings to the bottom line)
• Deep experience in assessing Supplier Capabilities in terms of ability to deliver against Best Class services and Best in Class commodity/product delivery
• Demonstrated experience in creating contract statement of work and contract negotiations
• Experience developing, refining, and influencing supplier & vendor onboarding processes.
• Demonstrated experience in development, execution, and enforcement of Commercial agreements

Specialist Skills - Desired

• Demonstrated experience in the sourcing and implementation of Contract Manufacturing particularly for complex equipment/high tech
• Demonstrated experience in the sourcing and implementation of Engineering Services contracts
• Experience working with engineers and PMs to provide value engineering cost savings to established and new programs.
• SAP knowledge
• Experience with regular audit review of files and processes

Work Flexibility

• Frequent business travel to assure supplier performance (est. 2 days per month), to identify new suppliers, and in the selection of new suppliers thru the Strategic Sourcing Process
• Part time remote work is permitted for this role (expectation is 1/day per week in office minimum (Wednesdays)
• Frequent business travel to EA offices to lead Cross Functional teams in the strategic sourcing process
• Extensive partnering with cross functional teams across company
• Demonstrated expertise in monitoring and enforcing Contracts including contracts that have fees at risk thru Performance KPIs
• Extensive experience in establishing and executing contracts
