The Sourcing Manager will develop, implement, and manage direct material sourcing category strategies as well as the necessary system(s) to improve supply chain speed, responsiveness, quality, and cost. The Sourcing Manager will set, measure, and drive performance expectations with the supply base while working with internal and/or external cross-functional teams to drive Supply Chain excellence. The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for driving supply management efforts to ensure supply resilience, effectiveness, and lowest total cost of ownership of Spectra Precision Supply Chain. The Manager will also be responsible for executing other process improvement initiatives by utilizing data analytics and other data-driven approaches to problem solving.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategy in alignment with the overall company strategy through strategic sourcing and procurement operations excellence.
- Drive down cost through various benchmarks, category analyses, and cost structures that may include the use of formula-based, index-based and should-cost models.
- Ensure lowest total cost of ownership through negotiation of new supply contracts and long-term agreements in the form of Master Supply Agreements (MSA).
- Own and effectively manage supplier relationship that includes performance management and supplier development.
- Manage and influence supplier capacity to secure continuity of supply.
- Participate in VA/VE efforts to execute cost and lead time reduction and lead such efforts with the suppliers.
- Serve in NPI project teams as Sourcing Leader to ensure alignment between decisions and category strategy.
- Ensure material costing information is updated and accurate.
- Mitigate shortage and material availability issues by sourcing creatively and/or working with Engineering and Product Management to identify substitutes.
- Work with the business to identify, develop, and implement improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Supply Chain processes with the end-goal of operating margin improvement and working capital optimization.
- Drive supply chain performance visibility and transparency via standardized reports of spend, scorecards, metrics (leading and lagging) and KPI’s utilizing various tools such as Power BI, relational database, SQL, Access, VBA.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- 7 years of experience in make-to-stock supply chain and manufacturing organization.
- Experience managing direct material sourcing with global suppliers; preferred categories: electronics, plastics.
- Prior experience dealing with contract manufacturers (CM/EMS/ODM).
- Strong understanding of supply chain management to include strategic sourcing and procure-to-pay cycle.
- Specific knowledge of supplier negotiations and contract management techniques
- Lean manufacturing experience and six sigma knowledge.
- Strong proficiency in Supply Chain systems such as ERP, SRM, WMS and data analytics tools (tableau, Power BI, python, relational database – SQL, Access VBA) and systems thinking.
- Experience in automation and digitalization in a supply chain environment and leveraging data to influence decisions.
- Strong bias for action and hands-on involvement at the Gemba.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional projects and change management.
- Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- ISM CPM/CPSM and/or APICS CPIM designation preferred
- PMP certification
- Electronics manufacturing experience
