Specialty Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Specialty Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Additionally, Specialty Pharmacy Technician requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician works under moderate supervision. Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist as part of a team to ensure patients receive their medications in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: accurately entering prescriptions, preparing orders for pick up and delivery, inventory maintenance, resolving insurance issues, assisting with prior authorization, helping walk-in customers, helping maintain a clean working environment, and performing cash register transactions utilizing excellent customer service skills at all times.
Physical job requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally moves boxes weighing up to 25 lbs. across the office for various needs.
