The Shipping & Warehouse coordinator is responsible for supporting finished good inventory control and shipments of OSB from West Fraser’s Joanna Mill.
Responsibilities (main functions)
The Shipping & Warehouse coordinator must work closely with carriers, seeing that they provide the service that is required to get the product to the market on time and without damage.
The Shipping & Warehouse coordinator works in liaison with West Fraser sales teams, keeping them informed of inventory levels of the various sizes and grades. They help to solve any questions or complaints about the product or shipment.
Shipping & Warehouse coordinator records and maintains all shipping statistics. He/she provides reports on inventory, the order file, daily shipments and sales forecast.
The Shipping & Warehouse coordinator is responsible for observing board quality in the warehouse and the banding and loading of rail cars and trucks.
The Shipping & Warehouse coordinator may spend up to 100% of a shift loading trucks / rail cars.
The Shipping and Warehouse coordinator requires being on call, assisting with inventory, potentially using a company laptop at home when needed and covering for the shipping manager int their absence.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1) Assists in production scheduling in order to have sufficient inventories to meet shipping requirements.
2) Determines best possible carriers in order to provide quality service at lowest cost.
3) Works closely with carriers in order to achieve good relationships that promote quality service.
4) Records and maintains shipping paperwork and statistics in order to support accurate reporting on complaints, inventory, order file, daily shipments and sales forecast.
5) Ensures quality product is shipped by inspecting board, banding and loading of cars and trucks.
6) Supports an efficient safety program in the warehouse.
7) Loads & unloads trucks / rail cars as needed.
8) Fills in for Shipping Manager as needed for vacation and absences.
