Service Writer schedules repairs with customers and prepares schedule for shop and field service personnel. Oversees timely processing of work orders. Being a Service Writer requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Service Writer works under moderate supervision. Duties:
- Greet customers and provide excellent customer service. Listen to customer concerns and accurately document them. Answer phone calls for the service department. Assisting with customers when machines are being dropped off as needed.
- Open customer work orders and process paperwork when jobs are completed.
- Assist with getting parts as needed by the service manager.
- Open warranty work orders as needed and process. Filing warranty claims in a timely manner once the warranty work is completed.
- Process payments for purchase orders and handle transactions. Getting billing and customer information for road work calls.
- Assist the service manager with: preparing estimates for repairs and service; making road call work orders; contacting customers when repairs/service are completed; calling customers when they have critical codes on machines; contacting customers when they are due for service and providing a quote; emailing invoices and work orders to customers.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and technicians.
- Ability to accurately transmit customer concerns to technicians.
- Basic knowledge of computer programs including word processing and database tools.
- Experience in a Customer Service role or Service Writer/Advisor role a plus.
