Summary/Objective
Participate as a member of the executive cabinet in collaboration with the Superintendent, with responsibilities that include but are not limited to: staffing, student achievement, staff evaluations, parent involvement, school safety, facilities, school climate, budget development, professional development, and community partnerships
Essential Functions

- Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner.
- Provide leadership in promoting the educational objectives and values of collaborative planning, district curriculum, effective teaching practices and responsive programs and services.
- Supervise the IT, Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment, and Special Education Directors in addition to other managerial positions, as needed.
- Serve as liaison between community agencies and district administrators and schools.
- Research and respond to inquiries from the school administrators concerning building-based issues.
- Provide educational leadership, administrative direction, supervision, and technical assistance to support district and school initiatives.
- Demonstrate and develop high academic and behavioral expectations, collaborative planning and program development, responsive management, and personal accountability with school and district administrators.
- Support the monitoring and evaluating of building administrators on a daily basis in all areas of operations including, but not limited to: conducting classroom visits to assess educational and operational effectiveness, providing guidance and available resources to school administrators and assisting with school needs assessment and school goals.
- Review results and/or scores of mandated student assessments for the purpose of monitoring progress and identifying deficiencies.
- Attend regular meetings, including principal meetings, as required by the Superintendent.
- Visit and monitor schools as required to make appropriate educational and operational assessments.
- In collaboration with the Director of Federal Grants, coordinate in-service training and professional learning opportunities for staff.
- Participate in the District Curriculum Committee to facilitate required curriculum adoption policies.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative, and mutually supportive working relationship with community agencies, parents, students, and district and school staff.
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations and rules.
- Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.

Work Environment
The incumbent will work within a professional office environment as well as on school campuses throughout the District. Work is typically performed indoors in an environmentally-controlled environment. Attendance at outdoor school functions may occasionally be required.
Physical Demands
- Constantly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, and exchange information with others.
- Constantly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess details as needed to complete job functions.
- Regularly required to remain stationary, and focus on a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Regularly required to be mobile and travel to meetings and events throughout the district.
- Occasionally move, transport, position, put, install, and remove items up to 10 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an exempt, full-time, 12-month position. Employee will regularly work extended hours to participate in necessary decision-making conversations and collaborations outside of the typical work day, to resolve urgent situations, and to meet deadlines. Occasional travel to conferences, with overnight stays, may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s or more advanced degree in educational leadership from an accredited university/college, and
- Three or more years of experience as a school principal or district leader, and
- Five or more years of experience as a teacher, counselor, or certified support provider, or
- Any combination of education and experience that would allow the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in data-driven decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and grow programs.
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Valid administrative certificate through Arizona Department of Education
- Valid driver’s license
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
