Title: School Nurse
Reports to: Building Principal
Responsibilities- Provide or assist with health-related crisis intervention. Provides or assists with students & scheduled medications, plus PRN medications and medical interventions per nursing diagnosis.
- Attend to student & related complaints.
- Develop and maintain appropriate student health records. Assists in information of health policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the school district.
- Provide screening health assessments as needed.
- Implement and monitor student compliance with immunization laws.
- Coordinate school and community health activities utilizing community resources.
- Act as a health education resource person to faculty for the dissemination of health-related information in classrooms. Evaluate health curriculum, health instructional materials, and health education activities.
- Promote student and staff self-care.
- Educate parents regarding student health concerns and parenting techniques.
- Follow the schedule of office hours as approved by the principal. Notify the principal of changes in advance in writing.
- Notify the Supervisor of conditions that adversely affect the performance of the district.
- Refrain from discussing confidential and official business with unauthorized people.
- Conduct all professional business through proper channels of communication; thereby, proving always by his/her behavior that his/her conduct is motivated by a professional spirit.
- Conduct, personal appearance, etc. are to be professional and appropriate at all times.
- Observe district policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Have material approved by the building principal before distributing.
- Follow handbook (faculty and student) guidelines.
- Assist in any emergency that might arise.
- All employees hired by the school district must pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check.
