ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Summary/Objective:
The Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager manages many aspects of the Company’s accounting operations by establishing and maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems & supervising a portion of the accounting staff.
Essential Functions:

Oversee the daily accounting activities to maintain the general ledgers.

Supervise daily work of the assigned staff including coaching, counseling and motivating the employees to exceed expectations.

Supervise daily accounting functions & staff.

Produce monthly financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows, and accumulative general ledger using a computer-based accounting system.

Monitor and ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records monthly.

Prepare monthly closing general ledger entries.

Oversee fuel tax and property tax reporting.

Other duties as assigned.
Non - Essential Functions:

Work extensively with plant personnel to improve business.

Support the Controller as needed.

Work Environment:

Work time will be indoors/office.

Noise level will be low.
Physical Demands:

Sit approximately 7 hours per day and walk or stand the other 1 hour per day.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
-
Experience in accounting or finance (10 years preferred).
-
Prior supervisory/management experience (5 years preferred).
-
ERP upgrade/implementation experience preferred.
Special Skills:
-
Large Accounting team (20 ) management.
-
Excellent written communication, verbal communication and mathematical skills.
-
Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel.

Experience using multiple accounting software platforms (Great Plains, NetSuite).

High degree of auditing experience (GAAP) and fixed asset accounting.

Extensive knowledge of accounting and payroll laws and practices.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.

Excellent organizational skills.

Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Must be able to gather and analyze financial data/information skillfully.
Certifications:
-
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) not required.
Industry Related Experience or Skills:
Education Required: BA/BS (Accounting/Finance)
Preferred Education: Masters’ Degree (preferred)
Bilingual in Spanish Preferred: No
