    Job Summary

    Directly responsible for successfully creating, leading, and implementing an integrated development strategy, comprising a complement of both public and private sources. Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships to build the organization's visibility, impact, and diversify its financial resources. Raise private sector funds to support Noble’s initiatives and lead the development and implementation of organization- wide strategies to increase the organization’s fundraising capacity. Identify, organize, and coordinate fundraising activities for Noble with an emphasis on unrestricted funding sources and new opportunities to obtain ongoing and increased support from corporations, foundations, public agencies, private organizations, and individuals. Work closely with Marketing Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan designed to support Noble’s development activities.

    In coordination with the President and the governing body, lead efforts to cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and others.

    As a member of the Noble Leadership Team, work with fellow Leadership Team members to establish and execute strategy, manage resources and budgets, and integrate teams, departments and development to support the Noble mission and strategy.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide leadership, direction and oversight including:

    Develop and implement short and long-range goals to diversify funding resources in collaboration with the president, the governing body (the board of directors of The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation) and Development team to further advance Noble’s mission and purpose, including but not limited to:

    • Provide strategic direction for and ensure the creation and progress of Noble’s resource development plan in collaboration with the president and governing body, while ensuring alignment with Noble’s strategic and business plans;
    • Set aggressive but achievable annual and rolling 3-year resource development goals and lead efforts to raise such amounts through private sources and/or public sources;
    • Develop and manage all solicitation efforts, including annual appeals, identifying grant funding opportunities, donor targeting, event planning, major and planned giving, endowed giving, and bequests with an emphasis on increasing sustainable unrestricted, private revenue;
    • Create and implement strategies for identifying and cultivating new sources of corporate and foundation financial support;
    • Build, implement, and participate in each step of the donor pipeline by leading the organization’s strategy for cultivating and retaining individual donors of all levels, including major donors and annual donors in coordination with the governing body and Noble staff;
    • Prepare monthly analytics and reporting for the president, Leadership Team and governing body, which synthesizes the financial progress and trends of fundraising activities;
    • Build and grow a national network of corporations, foundations, public agencies, private organizations, and individuals;
    • Keep up to date on current development and fundraising programs, practices, and procedures used in the nonprofit sector;
    • In collaboration with Marketing Communications and Information Technology, evaluate and drive the use of new technology funding platforms, including social media and electronic platforms aligning the organization's website and online tools for supporters; and
    • Ensure donor database integrity by managing data in the accounts, confirming entry and accuracy with all supporting documentation.
    Lead the creation and implementation of a development strategy, including but not limited to:
    • Communicate with the governing body when requested by the president;
    • Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for Noble, articulating our mission, purpose, and operations to external audiences;
    • As needed, educate and train members of the governing body, members of the Leadership Team and the organization in donor cultivation and professional fundraising techniques;
    • Offer leadership and motivation to those carrying out development
    • Partner with the president, members of the Leadership Team, and members of the governing body, as appropriate, on solicitation calls, meetings, and the When appropriate, personally conduct major gift solicitations;
    • Collaborate with Marketing Communications,
      • Providing strategic oversight to all donor materials, including case-for-support materials and the like, and strategic support on the full range of external stakeholder communications;
      • To implement a marketing plan designed to support Noble’s fundraising activities, including identifying potential media opportunities and stories to support Noble’s fundraising goals and activities;
      • To ensure external communications have consistent messaging and branding and are aligned with organizational messages;
    • Partner with Accounting to sustain efficient, effective and transparent financial tracking and reporting processes;
    • Plan and coordinate the goals and activities of the Development staff;
    • Effectively manage the Development budget and income forecasts;
    • Train and mentor the Development team to provide additional breadth, build capacity and create a team of qualified, engaging contributors.
    • Develop clear processes and collaborate with other departments within the organization to create and understanding of and appreciation for the development function; and
    • Foster and environment of cohesiveness and

    Solicit and prepare grant proposals, public and private, in collaboration with Noble staff (ranches, research, producer guidance), and with Accounting, to secure additional sources of funding to grow and enhance Noble outcomes, including but not limited to:

    • Research and evaluate funding announcements to identify those that align Noble’s operational priorities using in-house decision-making tools, including Noble’s Strategic Product Team;
    • Coordinate effective proposal development, including collaborating with proposal writers and relevant departments to set timelines and deliverables to complete all stages of proposal development, including identifying sources and collaborators, preparing budgets and other related elements in concert with Accounting, securing appropriate signatures, and competing proposal submission by due dates;
    • Organize current grants by funding source, complying with the life cycle activities, and updating relevant staff;
    • Coordinate effective proposal development, including setting up timelines and deliverables for grant applications;
    • Work with project leads to compile necessary information for reporting on awarded grants;
    • Maintain an up-to-date database for all proposed and awarded grants documenting on-going status, tracking, and reporting; and
    • With Accounting, oversee the organizing, maintaining and archiving grant files per document retention

    Non-essential Duties

    Responsible for routinely checking email correspondence and associated attachments. Other duties as assigned.

    Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strongly Preferred

    • Subject matter expertise and experience in holistic management of S. grazing lands, and specifically, grazing land management, livestock management and grazing management.
    • Deep relationships within and knowledge of the grazing animal industry and its entire value Experience in (public) grants management, budget planning and execution and reporting.
