TEGNA is looking for an experienced journalist to help maintain our tradition of superior reporting and newsgathering across our television stations nationwide. We are interested in finding a journalist who can create unique, memorable and well-written stories and who can share them on all platforms – including digital, streaming and broadcast. Responsibilities: 

• Develop original and impactful story ideas that resonate across a wide range of audiences
• Proactively mine for sources, in various areas of expertise, who can offer context and perspective that strengthens TEGNA’s journalism
• Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines to produce long and short-form journalism for distribution to TEGNA’s platforms
• Ensure stories are fully-vetted and accurate to maintain the highest levels of credibility
• Use evolving social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content in new and innovative ways.
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
• Present live reports, as needed, in a conversational and engaging style.
• Work non-traditional hours as needed to follow developments in major stories with impact to TEGNA’s markets.

Requirements: 

• Must have at least 8 years of news experience – including as an on-camera reporter handling both general assignment content and live breaking news
• Must possess solid news judgment, display strong communication skills, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
• Strong writing skills, production skills and tease writing abilities.
• Must be organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines, contributing content for distribution across multiple platforms and stations as necessary.
• Strong understanding of social media newsgathering and distribution.
