Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION :
The incumbent will report directly to the Coordinator of Student Life, Wellness & Recreation in all matters pertaining to recreation and intramural programs, the Fitness Center, Student Center, and fitness activities.
Job Duties The Coordinator of Wellness & Recreation must commit a significant amount of time to the position during the hours conducive to student participation in various programs and activities;
therefore, the regular workweek is Monday through Friday from 11 to 7 Occasionally, work may be required beyond 7 and on weekends, and regular hours may be adjusted to accommodate activities.
1. Organize, administer, and supervise an intramural / recreational sports program for men and women.
2. Coordinate the use of college facilities, including Fitness Center and Student Center, by students, community groups, etc.
to include multi-purpose room, equipment room, game room, and student mail distribution.
3. Set up tables, chairs, and other supplies for meetings and activities across campus, as requested.
4. Coordinate all dates and times for intramural / recreational activities with the Coordinator of Student Life, Wellness & Recreation.
5. Supervise Fitness Center personnel, and student workers assigned to the intramural / recreational program.
6. Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance requests and safety / security issues to appropriate personnel. Insure all equipment is performing properly;
schedule regular service and maintenance.
7. Assist in maintaining and ensuring cleanliness and inventory of equipment, furnishings, and supplies of the Student Center, Wellness Center, and intramural / recreational program.
8. Serve as Advisor for the Dog Pound student group and transport students to athletic events as needed. This will include in-state travel long distances, or potentially overnight travel and hotel accommodations out-of-state.
9. Serve on campus / college-wide committees as assigned, Attend staff meetings and committee meetings when required.
10. Participate In professional development activities, conferences, and seminars, etc.
12. Refer serious misconduct to the Director of Student & Residence Life, Dean of Student Services and / or campus Police.
13. Assists Housing Area Coordinators and other Student Services Staff in conducting student activities. Mandatory Qualifications (M1) A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in physical education, education, recreational leadership or related area or an associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university plus three years’ relevant experience in higher education / student services field.
M2) Experience with organizing intramural sports and / or athletics.
M3) Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
M4) Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
M5) Supervisory experience.
M6) Current CPR / First Aid Certification and / or willingness to obtain certification within specified time. Desirable Qualifications (D1) Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a related field.
D2) Recreation, wellness, and / or outdoor leadership experience.
D3) Personal Training Certification.
