Radiation Physicist ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment and the protection of patients and staff from radiation. Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment, conducts X-ray machine performance surveys, and implements procedures to ensure quality control for electronic imaging devices. Being a Radiation Physicist recommends radiation safety procedures. Informs staff in radiation safety practices. Additionally, Radiation Physicist may require an advanced degree of radiation physics. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Radiation Physicist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. OCSRI ensures world class care is close to home as the largest cancer care provider in the Northeastern Oklahoma region. OCSRI’s main campus is located in Tulsa, OK, with 3 satellite clinics in towns surrounding Tulsa.
All OCSRI facilities use CMS Monaco for treatment planning, Mosaiq’s R&V system and Elekta linacs to deliver treatment; each site can sim patients and is attached to a full medical oncology suite. The main campus offers additional treatment options including nuclear medicine, a full imaging suite, an HDR suite and Precision treatment planning for Tomotherapy. 5 linear accelerators are housed at the main campus, including 2 Tomotherapy units, 3 Elekta units (1 Infinity, 2 Versa HD (SRS/SBRT capable)) and a dedicated HDR suite utilizing Flexitron and Oncentra planning.
The successful applicant will join a team consisting of 4 radiation oncologists, 7 dosimetrists, 4 physicists, 1 medical physics assistant and 25 therapists. The department adopts new technology readily and listens to great ideas no matter their origin. If you want to work where your efforts make a difference in how patients receive treatment, OCSRI is the place for you.
Experience with the technology in our clinics, while helpful, is not explicitly required. The team at OCSRI can train any qualified physicist to utilize all software and equipment.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess at least a master’s degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited university and graduated from CAMPEP medical physics residency program. A minimum of 2 years clinical experience (including residency training time), ABR board eligible is required. OCSRI is willing to consider applicants seeking U.S. Residency Sponsorship.
