Radiation Physicist ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment and the protection of patients and staff from radiation. Calibrates all radiation therapy equipment, conducts X-ray machine performance surveys, and implements procedures to ensure quality control for electronic imaging devices. Being a Radiation Physicist recommends radiation safety procedures. Informs staff in radiation safety practices. Additionally, Radiation Physicist may require an advanced degree of radiation physics. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Radiation Physicist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.   • Position Description:

    Radiation Safety & Control Services (RSCS), a subsidiary of Allied Power located in Seabrook, New Hampshire is seeking a Junior Health Physicist .

    The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of health physics fundamentals and their application in nuclear industries. They will be responsible for carrying out technical tasks for radiological projects, collecting necessary information and data, and collaborating effectively with team members to achieve project goals.

    Position may require occasional travel to project sites within the U.S. Position is a corporate based position, in Seabrook, NH.

    Must meet RSCS and client security requirements for specific projects including FBI security check.

    Essential Functions:

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Perform health physics-related assignments requiring general technical skills and knowledge.
    • Make decisions on instrumentation needed for specific project requirements.
    • Participate in radiological decommissioning activities.
    • Conduct contamination and dose rate surveys on various surfaces, materials, and waste.
    • Perform general health physics calculations including decay and counting statistics.
    • Conduct inspections and investigations on x-ray machines to ensure compliance with state requirements.
    • Assist senior health physicists with neutron characterization studies.
    • Document radiation measurements and x-ray inspections in surveys and Technical Safety Documents (TSDs).
    • Write clear, concise, and accurate project reports incorporating measurement data.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in health physics, physics, or a related scientific discipline.
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
    • A Master’s degree may count for 2 years of the required experience.

    Skills Required:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software; familiarity with coding languages like C , Python, and Java preferred but not required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective organization and time management skills.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and physical work.
    • Experience with source checking and survey equipment operation.
    • Experience conducting surveys using radiation detection equipment.
