Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Feeds and runs the equipment at acceptable production rates while ensuring quality of parts.
Maintains a clean and orderly workplace and observes appropriate safety precautions at all times.
Discerns malfunctioning product or equipment and attempts necessary corrections or notifies Supervisor to avoid excessive scrap.
Operate computer for Shop Floor Data Collection.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read SWS / SIS and all other documents in the department; ability to speak effectively to all employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
