POSITION OVERVIEW

White Pine Middle School is searching for a teacher with a passion for middle school students and a belief in teaching the whole child.

The teacher will provide direct instruction to students with a primary focus on mathematics and English language arts. Taking ownership of the students’ growth and adjusting as necessary to maximize learning is essential.

This individual will have the ability and the will to teach all students, including those students who have unique challenges in learning and will strive to close the achievement gap for them.

Regular, in-person attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, highly preferred
• Specific training to teach at the Middle School level is preferred.
• Additional endorsement(s) Mathematics (EX), English (BA) or English Language Arts (BX), desirable but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Plans and provides appropriate interventions for identified students.
• Provides intervention for middle school students in the MTSS / RTI program
• Assists with progress monitoring of students using specialized approaches
• Participates in periodic student program progress meetings.
• Participates in periodic grade level and instructional team planning sessions
• Uses data to drive instruction including to prescribe and provide intervention for students of all levels
• Remains current with best instructional practices, particularly for mathematics.
• Daily, in-person attendance is required
• Other duties as assigned.

• Regular, in-person attendance required
• Maintain emotional control under stress
• Work with frequent interruptions
• Repetitive hand motions
• Prolonged use of computer
• Possible occasional lifting or pushing of up to 25 pounds
• Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending and kneeling

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Primarily an indoor work environment on an open campus multiple building middle school in Mid-Michigan.

HOURS / PAY :

• 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (8 : 00a-4 : 00p)
• Approximately 185 workdays (August through June)
• Salary and benefits are pursuant to collective bargaining agreement with Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA)
• Current 2023-24 compensation start at $44,037 Bachelor’s Degree (no previous teaching experience); $51,537 Master Degree, (no previous teaching experience)
• The parties’ collective bargaining agreement expires July 31, 2024.
