Being a Psychological Services Director ensures the psychological division follows regulatory compliance requirements and standard procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Psychological Services Director typically reports to top management. The Psychological Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Psychological Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Coordinator of School Psychological Services

    Summary:
    Ensuring student success begins with understanding all students’ strengths, talents and needs. School Psychologists play a critical role in developing a deep understanding of the whole child, to include the social-emotional adjustment, cognitive and learning profile, and protective and risk factors of each child.  School Psychologists also provide consultative and collaborative services to students, families, and educators, contributing to the overall success of our school communities.  The Coordinator of School Psychological Services serves as the Lead Psychologist for the District, providing leadership and coordinating school psychological services in partnership with schools and the Director of Special Services.  The Coordinator of School Psychological Services also provides leadership to the Speech itinerant staff, including Speech Language Pathologists and Speech/Language Pathology Assistants to ensure compliance within the Speech department. 
     
    Essential Functions:
     
    1. Lead, manage, monitor and support psychological and speech services across the District, to include developing, supporting and evaluating a team of school psychologists, interns and practicum students. 
    2. Coordinate the organization and operation of school psychological and speech services, in collaboration with administrators, school psychologists, school and district staff, local agencies, families and the Director of Special Services.
    3. Oversee district procedures and practices regarding psychoeducational evaluations, including determining evaluation instrument needs, maintaining an adequate supply of instruments and protocols, reviewing reports for compliance with state and federal rules and guidelines, and assuring that best practices in evaluations are followed. 
    4. Provide ongoing training, support, consultation and guidance to school psychologists and speech staff to ensure the overall effectiveness of school psychological and speech services. Assist with pre-service training to new Special Education staff as well as ongoing training with all Student Services personnel.
    5. Participate in and support decision making for students referred to a more restrictive environment within the district’s programs, along with the Special Education Compliance Coordinator and the Director of Special Education.
    6. Develop and maintain effective information systems pertaining to student records, communication, training, and other data required for completing annual data report and biannual Office of Civil Rights surveys in compliance with federal and state legal requirements. 
    7. Oversee students attending private day school settings, including completing annual Individual Education Plans and triannual re-evaluations, monitoring progress and readiness to exit private day school settings and extended school year, approving requisitions.
    8. Oversee students placed at alternative placements, coordinating initiation and discontinuation of services, including work to be completed, transportation, and sending daily progress reports to home campus personnel. 
    9. Oversee students attending residential treatment centers as well as those at Foundation for Blind Children and the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf through the state voucher system, including completing annual Individual Education Plans and triannual re-evaluations, if applicable, completing Home School District Voucher Applications and annual renewals, if applicable. 
    10. Provide training to administrators, classified and certified staff on Threat Assessment procedures.
    11. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
     
    Qualifications:
     
    1. Current Arizona Department of Education School Psychology certification
    2. Master’s degree in School Psychology
    3. 4 or more years of experience as a school psychologist
    4. Supervisory experience preferred
