Property Casualty Underwriting Director jobs in Maryland

Property Casualty Underwriting Director directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Ensures the quality and integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Property Casualty Underwriting Director develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Additionally, Property Casualty Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has extensive knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Property Casualty Underwriting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Essential Functions And Primary Duties

    • Provide service delivery to an assigned block of personal insurance clients
    • Resolve moderately *complex customer service problems directly
    • Act as an outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, with direct client contact on assigned accounts
    • Build relationships with clients and serve as the primary point of contact for overall and day-to-day service delivery
    • Represent client internally and coordinate with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and address ongoing service needs
    • Escalate client concerns when appropriate
    • Assist client services management in conducting client meetings as needed
    • Inputs data into appropriate software for vendors/carriers/clients within required timeframe
    • Participate with new client set-up, renewals, and meetings
    • Establish and preserve a solid business rapport with clients and vendors
    • Discuss with clients applicable legislation and market trends
    • Ensure that all internal controls and procedures are followed
    • Generate client interest in additional lines of coverage
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned
    • May provide guidance and direction to less experienced client service staff
    • Complexity is based on the degree of uncertainty, financial risk, technical requirements, urgency and volume or size.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Valid Property & Casualty License

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • 3 to 5 years customer service experience in the insurance industry required
    • Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
    • Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
    • Effective customer service skills
    • Proficient use of applicable technology
    • Ability to work in team environment as well as independently
    • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs

    The annual salary target for this job in this market is $55,000.00 – $65,000.00. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
