Project Engineering Manager plans and directs all design engineers, drafters, and technical engineers working on specific projects. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex designs. Being a Project Engineering Manager oversees product construction and testing in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and effectively as possible. Evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, or schedule of a project. Additionally, Project Engineering Manager monitors progress and performance against the project plan. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Responsibilities- Ensure the success of the projects under his/her management.
- Handle all aspects for a project.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to individuals.
- Plan, organize, and supervise the work and workload of project staff.
- Monitor project costs to ensure that project is delivered within budget, fulfills customer expectations for schedule and quality, and/or aligns with the company strategic objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience of AASHTO compliant bridge design/management experience.
- Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Maine or be able to be licensed in Maine.
- Ability to lead multi-discipline bridge projects for public and private sector clients.
- An established business network with MaineDOT and Municipal clients and contractors.
- Prior experience with the Federal-Aid project delivery process.
- Proven ability to manage bridge projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams meeting schedule, budget and quality.
- Proven ability to identify, pursue, and win work.
- Ability to work remotely with team members in other offices.
- Familiarity with construction engineering, AREMA based rail bridge design, and/or design build procurement a plus.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
