Project Accountant Job Summary
The Project Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on general ledger accuracy, project accounting and financial reporting. The position will assist the Controller in conducting key activities such as month-end and quarter-end close, Board Reporting, year-end property tax filings and other ad hoc tasks as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities- None
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Project data integrity
- Monthly Gross Profit (GP) reporting
- Perform accurate and timely month, quarter and year-end close procedures including assisting in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for multiple balance sheets in relation to projects
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting
- Support external review and valuation requirements related to specific areas of responsibility, including preparation of audit schedules
- Support Project Accounting with cost transfers, reconciliations, revenue accounting
- Special projects to automate, streamline and improve internal processes and practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Excellent computer skills, working knowledge of Sage, Procore, Quickbase a plus
- Must have intermediate level excel and Microsoft Office skills; advanced excel skills is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, the ability to solve complex problems
- Strong skills working with expenses, accounting and ability to reconcile accounts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adapt to a flexible, fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Construction industry experience is a plus
- CPA or CPA Candidate is a plus
- 3-5 years of general ledger accounting experience
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
