Professor - Special Education teaches courses in the discipline area of special education. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Special Education provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Special Education typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. Lead Nurse
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with special education students in meeting their medical needs (i.e. tube feeding, suctioning, etc.).
- Provide staff training programs for the administration of medications and the operation of healthcare equipment (AED’s, etc.).
- Notify the school and the Supervisor of Special Education and Health Services/Lead Nurse at least 24 hours in advance of anticipated personal leave.
- Notify the School/Lead Nurse as soon as possible of needed sick leave.
- Responsible for getting a substitute when absent unless other arrangements have been made by the Principal/Lead Nurse.
- Maintain computer program documentation of daily tasks with the students.
- Consult with Lead Nurse/ Itinerant School Nurse for medical concerns as needed.
- Conduct vision/hearing screenings on special education referrals and re-evaluations if needed.
- Make recommendations to the Supervisor of Special Education and Health Services/Lead Nurse for equipment or materials necessary to meet the needs of the students while at school.
- Maintain confidentiality of all special education records.
- Any and other essential functions as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
