Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Philosophy provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students.     Dominican University invites applications for the position of a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor in Philosophy for the 2024-25 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. This role requires teaching a total of eight undergraduate courses (four in the fall semester and four in the spring semester). Areas of Specialization and Competence are open, and a Ph.D. by the time of employment is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a generalist able to teach a variety of courses, including introduction to philosophy and critical thinking. Experience in teaching introductory courses and evidence of teaching excellence are required, and familiarity with alternative epistemology is preferred.
