Professor - Chemistry teaches courses in the discipline area of chemistry. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being a Professor - Chemistry provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Professor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and initiates research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Provides intellectual leadership and has made significant contributions to the field. May offer independent study opportunities and mentoring to students. This position is full-time, nine months with full benefits, with a starting date of August 16, 2024.
Duties: Teaching responsibilities include all Chemistry courses, with a primary focus in general and organic chemistry. Faculty are required to engage in service, and professional growth and development activities.- A minimum of a master’s degree in chemistry from a regionally accredited college or university is required by time of appointment OR a master’s degree in a related field and 18 credit hours of chemistry.
- Excellence in previous college teaching experience is valued.
- Successful candidates should demonstrate:
- A student-centered commitment to high academic standards and service to students including an effective and conscientious commitment to academic advising;
- A commitment to collegiality with peers and building a welcoming community;
- An understanding and commitment to utilizing innovative teaching methodologies and systems which actively engage students in the learning process;
- A basic understanding of student learning outcomes, course and program assessments;
- An understanding and commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students.
