Product Development Director plans and directs the resources and processes required to implement the vision and strategy for new product development and product lifecycle management of existing products. Establishes research and concept development projects and capabilities to innovate new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. Being a Product Development Director conducts market analysis and interacts with customers and prospects to identify new markets, articulate the value proposition, define requirements, and lead the development of a product roadmap. Four Directions Development Corporation (FDDC) in Orono, Maine is seeking a full time Director of Finance. FDDC's mission is improving the social and economic conditions of the four Native American tribes in Maine — Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot — through education and investment in affordable housing, tribal business ventures and native entrepreneurship. FDDC is a small non-profit organization with a great work culture, including a standard 36 hour workweek (Friday afternoons off).
The Director of Finance will be responsible for all financial matters of the organization, working closely with the Executive Director and the Leadership team and the Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies across the organization, and determining the financial impacts; leads finance, business planning, and budgeting; prepares financial analyses, including interim and final statements with supporting schedules, for management and the Board; maintains strong relationships with lending institutions; ensures that the organization has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and flawless audits; leads all day-to-day finance operations, and supports compliance functions; has overall responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Qualified applicants will have: a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, accounting or business administration (or the equivalent in education and closely-related work experience); 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting position, preferably at a director level; proven professional experience in finance, accounting, contracts, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and automated financial reporting systems; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections; strong computer proficiency, especially in accounting and office software (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook and Word); related professional experience in a not-for-profit, community foundation, banking or financial services environment preferred.
Knowledge of Native American culture, prior experience working with Native American tribes, and/or Native American ancestry preferred.
