Power Plant Operations Manager manages and oversees the daily operations of a power generation plant. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are followed. Being a Power Plant Operations Manager directs the implementation of preventative maintenance, emergency and operational plans and procedures. Ensures all applicable regulatory requirements are and safety protocols are followed. Additionally, Power Plant Operations Manager resolves problems and manages resources. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Power Plant Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Power Plant Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Evaluate major plant repair, upgrade, or improvement options, conduct cost benefit analyses. Develop implementation plans, materials, tooling, and procedures for selected solutions. Maintain a positive, productive work environment that promotes productivity and teamwork. Respond to emergency callouts to assist in plant operation and troubleshooting. Available for occasional overtime, especially during plant inspections / overhauls. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or applied science from an accredited university or college. 5 years progressively responsible experience in power plant, marine, industrial industries or equivalent. Desired Characteristics BSEE or BSME with some advanced technical coursework required. PE desirable. Possess or ability to obtain general engineering contractor license. Demonstrated capabilities in: Leadership and management Environmental and safety compliance HR compliance ASME pressure vessel codes Accounting and finance Project management Strong oral and written communication skills.
