Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     We are seeking an experienced General Manager who can manage all aspects of a recycling plant. The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of production, sales, accounting, customer service, growth, and budgeting as it relates to the Denver recycling facility. The candidate should be highly focused on maximizing profitability and growth and be able to lead a variety of personnel from production to sales to office staff. Position is in Denver, CO. Travel outside of the local Denver, CO area is minimal.


    Responsibilities

    • Direct a production staff to ensure a high level of efficiency in production as well as ensuring preventive maintenance programs are executed.
    • Direct and coordinate sales, logistics and customer service staff to ensure cost efficiency as well as a high level of service to the customer base.
    • Implement, maintain, and manage a safety program to ensure employees are working safely, have all necessary safety equipment and that the logistics, products and production processes are all in line with safety protocols.
    • Develop, communicate, and execute an overall business unit strategy including capital needs, sales strategies, logistics, production plans, etc.
    • Manage and provide local support necessary for corporate requirements around accounting, controls, etc.

    Competencies

    • Ability to work in a complex and constantly changing environment.
    • High level of knowledge of grades, pricing and logistics in the recycling industry including paper, plastics, and metals
    • Bias toward action and high level of understanding in calculating individual account profitability as well as overall facility profitability/impacts.
    • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
    • Sales abilities such that the General Manager can work with plant-based and regional sales teams to develop, implement, and execute a profitable growth plan.
    • High level of experience working with business unit financials to draw conclusions around the business and execute necessary changes.
    • Ability to work aggressively and competitively in the marketplace while still working as a valuable part of a regional and national team.

    Education / Experience

    • Strong recycling experience or related field required.
    • Recycling facility general management experience or related management experience
    • Bachelor's Degree or higher a plus
