Job Summary:

In addition to responsibilities of a small, key territory, other responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training of all department employees; on the job training and overall support of the Business Development Consultant and Physician Relations Representative departmental needs. The Regional Director, Physician Relations functions as a Sales Director and is responsible for developing and managing operational performance based on data reporting, increasing volume and controlling leakage throughout the system. Serves and participates in clinical strategic committee meetings for service lines and provides significant input to effect growth and development of service line initiatives. Provide assistance to Executive Director, Physician Relations, with key strategic initiatives for Wellstar Health System and Wellstar Clinical Partners. Assists in budget planning. Coordinates with Assistant Vice President to design strategic planning to meet the goals of the Physician Relations team. Works collaboratively with key hospital administrators and designated staff to coordinate, implement and execute provider mixers and practice manager meetings throughout the system on a regular basis. Develops and coordinates onboarding plan for rounding with new WMG physicians to generate business for physicians and increase volume to Wellstar Health System. Assists AVP with WMG physician orientation as needed. Works collaboratively with Marketing in developing promotional materials for events, meetings, and service lines. Works with Data Analyst to optimize PRM system for Business Development Consultants. Direct supervisory responsibility for Business Sales/Development Consultants. Management responsibility will span the entire system's growth. This position will partner with regional hospital Presidents, VPMAs, corporate system leaders, service line leaders, and clinical leaders throughout Wellstar to achieve our growth and physician alignment goals. This position will also champion the Wellstar Medical Group and Wellstar Clinical Partners. Regional Director will focus on professional development for the team they manage.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Market Analysis
- Analyzes data to target areas of opportunity for the system and control leakage.
- Trains/assists team in seizing opportunities for market share growth
- Utilize EPIC reports to define strategy for team on in-network referral opportunities. Works with team members to have crucial conversations with employed offices regarding referral patterns.
Responsible for onboarding plan for WMG physicians
- Develops onboarding plan in conjunction with WMG to build physician practices
- Coordinates onboarding activities to increase volume to system.
- Works with their staff to successfully onboard newly employed physicians and introductions to referral sources and consulting providers
- Monitors success of new WMG providers to look for areas of opportunity
- Works across the system to maximize sub-specialist referrals. Works collaboratively with partner to maximize tertiary referrals throughout the WellStar network.
Responsible for provider mixers and practice manager meetings for the system
- Coordinate with team and implement provider mixers at each hospital on a regular basis
- Coordinate with team and implement practice manager meetings for affiliated practices and WMG practices at each hospital on a quarterly/semi-annual basis
Provide assistance to AVP
- Assist with Budget planning
- Assist with strategic goal planning for Physician Relations team
- Provides on the job training for staff
- Regional Director will provide regular updates to hospital Presidents, Service Line leaders, and AVP , Physician Relations.
- Prepare regional Weekly Executive Summary Reports with their team.
- Regular rounding with Business Development Consultants and Physician Relations Representatives
- Plans and executes twice yearly Physician Relations Department retreats
- Works to maintain and improve their teams GPTW Trust scores. Plans regular cadence of action planning and follow up with team Responsible for planning, and implementing business strategies to enhance referrals and generate new business.
- Performs marketing research to identify new potential clients and increased business from existing clients.
- Works collaboratively with AVP, Hospital Leadership, System Leadership and Service Line Leaders.
- Markets and manages staff to support specified service lines (including but not limited to CV, Surgery, Imaging, Neurosciences, Oncology, Womens, Pediatrics, Primary Care, Post-Acute, etc.) to physicians, hospitals, and all potential referral sources in geographic territory.
- Assesses competitor activity, and makes recommendations on system opportunities
- Works collaboratively with marketing to identify opportunities and collateral needs.
- Works with Executive Director/Data Analyst to understand the data and areas of opportunity and vulnerability for the system. Works with their staff to utilize data to close the gaps in leakage. Makes joint calls with staff to develop the skill set of our Business Development Consultants on a regular basis
- Monitors activities, leads and opportunities in PRM system of their staff. Works with staff on areas of opportunity and efficiency.
- Provides regular reporting of activities and opportunities in presentations to senior hospital leadership and system leadership. Runs the regional hospital President meetings for the Physicians Relations team.
- Provides ongoing system education to staff. This may include new clinical service orientations, sales training, Wellstar Clinical Partners, Wellstar Medical Group, Post-Acute Care, additions to our 11 service lines.
- Meets quarterly sales/growth goals.
Identify barriers to business
- Meet with physicians, physician practices, and system operations to identity barriers to doing business with Wellstar Health System
- Reports back to appropriate operations staff members to overcome barriers to business/service line growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration or healthcare related field Required
