  • The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and No. 2 hospital in Texas by U.S. News and World Report, is seeking an energetic Nuclear Medicine Physician. The ideal candidate will be board-certified or eligible by ABNM and/or ABR with Nuclear Radiology subspecialty Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) and an Authorized User.

     

    The Nuclear Medicine Division, headed by Dr. Orhan K. Oz, provides services at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Clements University Hospital, their affiliated outpatient clinics, and Children’s Medical Center. In addition, the division staffs the University Hospital Nuclear Medicine Therapy Clinic. These facilities are equipped with modern dual modality SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MR scanners.

     

    The candidate will have the opportunity to work with residents, fellows, and medical students in one of the largest radiology training programs in the U.S. The Nuclear Medicine Division operates a Nuclear Medicine residency and an Advanced Molecular Imaging and Therapy fellowship. The Nuclear Medicine faculty participates in a number of investigator-initiated research studies and Industry Sponsored Trials. Division faculty have the opportunity to engage in scholarly pursuits with faculty in the UTSW Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Program, Medical Physics, and Radiology Research with expertise in AI, SPECT, and PET imaging.

     

    Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Previous experience in Nuclear Cardiology, Brain Imaging and Pediatric Nuclear Medicine are highly desired. The candidate must meet the following requirements:

     

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree or foreign equivalent
    • Completed a minimum of 1 year of fellowship training
    • ABNM or ABR Board certified/eligible (Dual Pathway or NM Fellowship trained)
    • Eligible for Texas medical licensure and its acquisition prior to the start of employment 

     

    Divisional Duties:

     

    • Supervising and interpreting examinations including General Nuclear Medicine, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MR, Nuclear Cardiology, and DEXA
    • Conducting therapy patient consultation visits
    • A theranostic program administering Iodine-131, Radium-223, and 177Lu therapies, with available quantitative dosimetry in an SNMMI designated Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence and at Parkland Memorial Hospital
    • Providing consultation to referring physicians
    • Academic time for the ACGMEaccredited Nuclear Medicine residency program, Advanced Molecular Imaging and Therapy fellowship program, integrated ABR/ABNM training program for dual certification
    • Participation in Multidisciplinary Tumor boards and disease oriented teams

    • Participation in the SNMMI’s Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Registry
    • Ability to compete for research funding limited to Texas based investigators through the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas
